Developing a new surfactant or specialty monomer is rarely a single breakthrough — it's a disciplined progression from molecular design through application testing to pilot-scale validation. At Swash, that progression runs through our Mahape R&D and Application Center.
The work begins with molecular design and formulation, where new chemistries are conceived against specific performance targets. Candidates then move into cross-industry application testing, evaluated in real formulation contexts spanning CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers), agrochemicals, and textiles. Finally, promising chemistries undergo pilot-scale scale-up validation, using a semi-automated ethoxylation autoclave and a fractional distillation pilot unit to confirm that lab performance translates reliably to production.
This staged approach is what allows Swash to maintain consistent, batch-to-batch performance while still developing targeted solutions for demanding applications. It also shortens the path from a customer's performance challenge to a validated, manufacturable answer.
The Center is equipped with advanced analytical instrumentation and polymerization setups, and works in close alignment with our Lote manufacturing units to ensure that what succeeds at pilot scale can be commissioned at full scale.
